About Us
Meet Matt
Professional ceramicist and teacher
I attended a school with an exceptional ceramics program and was fortunate enough to have a teacher who was both supportive and inspiring. This teacher even gifted me their old wheel, which helped shape my passion for working with clay. I constantly referred to "The Craft of the Potter" by Michael Casson as my guide and spent much time at the school library checking it out.
After school, I pursued my interest in ceramics by completing a diploma at Plymouth College of Art & Design, where I honed my throwing skills and solidified my career aspirations. I went on to earn a degree in ceramics from the University of the West of England and was fortunate enough to have Walter Keeler as a teacher. His incredible demonstrations left a lasting impact and pushed me to take my work to new heights.
After graduation, I worked in a pottery in the Republic of Ireland as a production thrower for 12 years. However, I longed to be more creative and make my own pieces, which led me to establish my own studio. This also sparked a newfound love for teaching and the opportunity to inspire others in their own ceramic journeys.
